Ingredients Needed
The flour
To make these brownies lower in carbs and gluten-free, use fine almond meal or almond flour. If you are allergic to nuts, opt for coconut flour.
The cocoa powder
For authentic-tasting brownies use Dutch cocoa powder, as this is the type of cocoa used in boxed brownie mixes. The cocoa powder will give these chocolate brownies an intense chocolate flavor. If Dutch cocoa powder is not available, use unsweetened cocoa powder as an alternative.
The sweetener
These brownies can be made with regular sugar (for a non-keto version). For a true keto brownie, stick with approved sweeteners or sugar substitutes like granulated erythritol, monkfruit, or stevia.
The chocolate
The quality of chocolate will make or break your brownie recipe. For chocolate chips, aim to use a sugar-free chocolate chip variety. For chocolate chunks, use 100% dark baking chocolate.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- ¾ cup butter or coconut oil
- ½ cup keto chocolate chips
- ½ cup almond flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ cup allulose
- 3 large eggs
- Optional: ⅓ cup chopped walnuts, pecans, or slivered almonds
How to Make Keto Brownies
These brownies are super easy to make with a prep time of 7 minutes, cook time of 18 minutes, and a total time of 25 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Line an 8 x 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper
- In a large bowl, add the almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and allulose and mix until well combined
- In a small saucepan, add the butter and half the chocolate chips. Heat on medium until melted and whisk together. Remove from heat.
- In another large bowl, add the eggs and beat using an electric mixer. Eggs should be slightly frothy.
- Slowly add the chocolate and butter mixture to the eggs.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well until you have a thick, glossy brownie batter.
- Fold in remaining chocolate chips (and nuts if you choose)
- Pour brownie batter into the 8 x 8-inch baking pan, and bake for 14-18 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean).
- Remove from the oven and cool for at least 20 minutes.
